may be necessary for work to construct cargo bridges at a seaport in Azerbaijan.

Plans for when the Baku International Sea Trade Port project is due to begin are still being finalised, however, it is known that the scheme will take place in three stages, Azerbaijan Business Centre reports.

It is expected to take three years to complete the first phase of the construction, which will see the production of two berths of 50 m in length and four berths for dry cargo.

Deputy transport minister Musa Panakhov said: "Although the construction of the new port can start already in 2010, its launch is more probable in early 2011."

The port is due to be finished by 2016 and will feature two new ferry bridges and eight cargo bridges at a total cost of $400 million [258 million].

Dredging News Online recently reported that tenders are currently being received for a contract to carry out dredging and pumping at docks in Rotterdam.ADNFCR-3039-ID-19906837-ADNFCR
