Residents call for 'review of flood management system'

Angry residents from Perth in Scotland have criticised the local council over the area's incompetent flood management system.

People who live on the Fairfield housing estate claimed they live in constant fear they will be flooded if there is a heavy downpour, the Courier reports.

Homeowner George Fletcher implied the drains that supply the estate may need to be dredged after claiming they were clogged up with seven inches of silt in some places.

Another local, who asked not to be named, said: "Something needs to be done about this because it happens every time it rains and it's just not good enough."

Concerns have been raised after substantial rainfall on Wednesday (July 21st) caused flooding and almost resulted in individuals having to be evacuated from their homes.

Water levels in the Lade River rose so high many back gardens were submersed, residents told the publication.

Liverpool also suffered flash flooding after severe weather hit the city last week (July 20th), with fire fighters having to rescue people from houses in Bootle and Seaforth, the BBC reported.ADNFCR-3039-ID-19908785-ADNFCR
