Grindex Tuff Solo Sludge Pump Cleans Up For Brett Aggregates

25/03/2004

When operating a screening plant for twelve hours a day it's inevitable that water spillage, run-off and drips will affects areas surrounding the plant. Normally this would not be a difficulty, but when the plant lays in a hollow the volume of surface water being collected creates an unacceptable working environment.

This was the dilemma facing Derek Knight, Area Production Manager at Brett Aggregates Faversham quarry. He had tried small conventional submersible drainage pumps but the high silt and sand content meant these couldn't cope with the abrasive demands - and if the plant was washed down, creating even more suspended solids, this further exacerbated the problem. The costly high failure rate with these small drainage pumps also caused concern.

Knowing of Euroflo Fluid Handling as a distributor of specialist pumps Knight turned to them for advice. Euroflo were immediately able to recommend their recently launched Grindex Tuff Solo Sludge Pump as being ideal for the job. This has proved to be the case as the 110v Tuff Solo has now been operating for some nine months and the only attention it receives is when switched on at the start of production and switched off at the conclusion. As the location in question is close to the screening plant's main silt pump discharge from the Tuff Solo is very simply by 50mm MDS medium duty suction hose directly into that unit.

Despite its impressive specification Euroflo saw this application as being a good test as to whether or not the Tuff Solo stands up to performance claims made by Grindex. Judging by Derek Knight's reaction there seems little doubt that once again they have produced a pump that reinforces their reputation as one of the world's leading producers of submersible pumps for the most demanding applications.
